John J. McGovern Named Chief Financial Officer of
Multex.com

NEW YORK--Dec. 6, 1999--Multex.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: MLTX), the Internet's largest interactive
community of investors, analysts and brokers, announced that John J. McGovern, 44, has been
appointed Chief Financial Officer. On an interim basis, the role of Chief Financial Officer had been
filled by Philip Scheps who has served for 6 years as Multex.com's Controller. Mr. Scheps continues
to serve as the company's Controller and Vice President, Finance.

Mr. McGovern will be responsible for managing Multex.com's bank and financial community
relationships, and its financial and treasury functions. Included in his responsibilities are financial
reporting, cash management, budgeting, strategic planning, forecasting, mergers and acquisitions, and
SEC and shareholder reporting.

Mr. McGovern brings extensive experience to Multex.com. Prior to joining Multex, Mr. McGovern
served for over twenty years in senior level financial and executive positions. He served for over ten
years at Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc., overseeing financial reporting, and developing accounting and
reporting systems for its operating units. He also served as a Senior Vice President of Merrill Lynch
Interfunding and Director of ML Capital Markets. In this capacity Mr. McGovern originated, valued
and negotiated debt and equity investments in over twenty-five public and private middle-market
companies that were purchased through leveraged buyouts. Most recently, he was President and Chief
Executive Officer of Northsound Music Group. Mr. McGovern holds an M.B.A. degree from
Columbia University and is a Certified Public Accountant in New Jersey.
