On I82....yeah, sounds like it is shaping up to be a real stinker. Too bad. Just goes to show you can't sell a game on "kitch" alone.

There's a world of difference between a
console user and a PC user as far as games go.
The Midways,Acclaim's,THQ's, would give body
parts to be succesful in developing, marketing,
and selling a PC franchise. ATVI had/has one
with the Interstate series.

Agreed.

TRST data looks good, the Quake 3 and UT posts
are lacking the usual flaming. It looks like the
consenus is to buy them both. Each offers something
that makes it unique from the other.

That's consistent with what I'm reading on the web BB's on fan sites. I'm waiting for GTIS to send me my "free" UT that came with the Voodoo3 I bought early in the year. I doubt I'll buy Q3, however, for reasons we've discussed. As I've said before, perhaps it is better that SoF has been slightly delayed.

Saw the tail end of an interview with Bobby Kotick on CNN last night. He was discussing game violence and ratings with Beverly Schuch of CNN. I believe it was on a show entitled, "Pinnacle," which is part.....ok, as I was typing I decided to actually go to CNN and try and find the transcript....(the Internet never ceases to amaze) here is the link:

cnn.com

It was a good interview, I wish I had seen the whole thing. He did an excellent job clarifying the Company's position on ratings and discussing the application of the rating system to specific games. Considering that the footage was interspersed with tape of bodies coming out of Columbine and other places....it was a reasonably positive piece from an investor standpoint.

Here's a highlight:

Robert Kotick, CEO of Activision, Has Billion Dollar Dreams

[...]

KOTICK: You know what, there were 50 companies or so that were named in this lawsuit and, you know, I'm probably not supposed to comment on it, but it seems fairly frivolous.

SCHUCH (voice-over): Activision and other defendants have moved to dismiss the charges. The federal judge hearing the case is not expected to rule on the motion until after the new year. With all its warp speed headaches and sudden reverses, Kotick still loves the business of making video games.

(on camera): What drives you, though? I mean you could, you could retire.

KOTICK: I was once driving, I was sitting in the back of the car with Steven and Lynn when, and I said, you know, when does the anxiety end? When do you stop worrying about every aspect of the business and, you know, where it's going to go and how to grow it and how to build it and how to expand it? And Steve turned around and he said, for you, never.

SCHUCH: I don't see the anxiety there. It just...

KOTICK: I don't know if it's anxiety as much as...

SCHUCH: ... you make it look like it's fun, like you're just having a good time.

KOTICK: It is and I think that if it wasn't I would do something else. You know, we set out to build the biggest video game company in the world and I will not be satisfied until we accomplish that.
