Peter: Thanks for your interesting ideas. There are a few efforts along fault alert. If you go to Computer Associates web page and look for TNG Unicenter, there used to a 3D demo for zeroing on a particular faulty node from a 3d space. But I have n't seen anything beyond that. As for representations of networks, there are a few demos around the globe. But none has reached a maturity level where robust services can be built. -Nat
