JC was telling me,
My impression is that the community collectively feels that Rambus is trash.

What is then the highest memory bandwidth money can buy in the
linux/i686 domain? The Athlon has a 200 MHz FSB--- does it
run a 200MHZ memory subsystem too? It's reputed to have high
floating point performance-- does linux run well on it?

(To restate my problem again: I will be needing to run fast fourier transforms on huge lattices: 1280 times 1024 times 64, or 300 megabytes worth of floating point data--- I need the fastest RAM I can possibly get).

Thanks,
m
