Samsung Unveils World's First Mobile Phone With TV
SEOUL, KOREA, 1999 DEC 6 (NB) -- By Adam Creed, Newsbytes. Korea's Samsung Electronics has developed the world's first combination mobile telephone and TV unit. The folding mobile phone, the SCH-M220 TV phone will be available in Korea in January 2000.

The folding telephone handset has a 1.8-inch high-resolution TFT-LCD screen and a built in a miniature TV receiver. An antenna can receive both mobile phone and TV signals. Both TV broadcasts and mobile phone functions are shown on the screen.

A button above the phone keypad turns the TV on. When a telephone call comes in while it's on, the screen automatically switches to phone mode. The TV can be viewed for up to 200 minutes on a single battery charge.

The SCH-M220 also comes with a personal information manager, large-capacity phonebook and wireless data reception function.
