Do you know how it works??

How old is your nephew?? My diabetic nephew is almost 13.

When I showed my husband the link on the approval...he mumbled, yeah I knew it was supposed to be approved, the nurse had told me. He left the room then to get his glucose monitor and check is "BS" (as I call it) before bolusing his insulin for dinner from his pump.

I must admit, I am in awe of the advances in the past 16 years with the glucose monitoring equipment. I remember when a monitor cost 1,500 dollars and was not covered by insurance...(about 23 years ago)It was so exciting when the first monitors came out that did not need to be calibrated before each use. It was sooo exciting I will never forget when Mike and I were on our Honeymoon and checking into a hotel. The bellhop said to Mike, "Sir I put your video camera on the shelf here" We chuckled to ourselves knowing it was his glucose monitor. My point in sharing that is that the size of the unit at that time was comparable to the size of a full size VHS video camera. Both have reduced in size proportionately in those 16 years!! Although I am not sure there is a camera the size of a watch available yet!!
