Truthfully, I grew up in the city where Marie first baked her pies, ate in the first or second of her pie shops, and remember when the pies were actually excellent not just good. As the pie shops added to their menu, the most memorable items were the chili and the meatloaf sandwich.

Their pot pies did have a remarkable reputation. As the years past, the quest to find a piece of chicken in the chicken pot pie assumed Quixotic dimensions.
