UPDATE:

Over the weekend I had two problems to relate and received a number of suggestions for fixes. Finally reloaded windows 98 which fixed my shift click problem but sad to say that my clock remains screwed up. For some reason, every time I shut down. My clock comes back when I boot up, about 1 hour and 7 to 12 minutes ahead. It's the damndest thing. I've reset the clock in dos mode (and using the windows settings) and once or twice it survived rebooting but then it reverted to it's old pattern. Any other suggestions short of taking a hammer to this 3150 gateway? TIA
