I have CATS in the city, Lizzie. I would like a dog, but it is almost impossible in San Francisco to find a landlord that will accept one. This is quite unlike New York City, from what I have read, or Paris, where dogs even eat in restaurants.

There is a huge number of dogs who live in San Francisco, however. I think it works best when the dog lives with more than one person in a household where someone is around to keep the dog company a good part of the day and evening. There are lots of dog walkers who will come and take your dog out for some exercise if he has to stay home alone, though, and the newest thing is doggie daycare, where you drop the dog off on your way to work and he has fun all day with other dogs, and then pick him up on your way home like you would a child.
