Nucleus Enhances Oracle, SAS in Access to Customer Data

A leading customer relationship marketing (CRM) specialist, DunnHumby Associates, is now able to offer its clients direct access to fast ad hoc customer analysis thanks to the implementation of award-winning Nucleus Exploration products from Sand Technology Systems International Inc. (NASDAQ: SNDT - news).

``The customer relationship management market is changing rapidly and it is essential that we be at the forefront of developing revolutionary solutions,' said Paul Springfield, Vice President at DunnHumby, in the United Kingdom.

Nucleus, which is being used as a front-end exploration tool, was introduced to help cope with DunnHumby's clients' rapidly increasing demands for ad hoc queries on their customers' buying patterns - analysis which could not be carried out quickly and easily with other solutions.

``We required a highly scalable data exploration tool, capable of viewing and reporting from both our SAS application and Oracle database,' explained Springfield. ``We needed a tool which could perform rapid analysis, be flexible within the relational model, and which would run on NT, our platform of choice.'

It has become easy for us to send the data held in Nucleus to their own sites. As we predicted, Nucleus implementation and administration was very simple, and the application complemented most existing data strategies. The simplicity of it all is truly astonishing. Every column of data, for example, is indexed so there is no agony deciding what indexes are needed.'
