Yes we finally got to watch it last night. I thought Lemmon could have very well been "Coach" .
Reflections?
I am glad the reality of the pain and sadness and afraidness of "Coach" Morrie was also portrayed. It was not just a "rah-rah" movie, but the whole package.
It is curious to me that this book(and movie) brought so much interest. I believe it is because we have a very confused society. I have had several friends die this last couple years from dehabilitating disease and without exception, they died( or should I say lived) with the same "grace" I saw in Morrie.
Being a part of a support group that deals with physical dehabilitation, I see not only Morrie's actions, I see his case worker(forget her name) in people I know, I see his wife in mine (or visa-versa), trying both to carry on life and take care of Morrie. I see friends that want to take a breath and give it to me, as Mitch seemed to want to do for Morrie, and not be able too....
But what I saw in my friends lives was more than just "dinner with friends and one last dance" , I saw in them the hope and promise given that they would be victorious over death and reign eternal with the Father.
did you feel any of this, or is your prospective very different?
