Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Teams with Multex Investor to Reach Individual Investors via the Internet
Business Wire - December 07, 1999 08:04
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 7, 1999--Morgan Stanley Dean Witter (NYSE:MWD) today announced a new strategic alliance with Multex.com (NASDAQ:MLTX) that enables it to highlight its award-winning research and showcase its top-ranked analysts to individuals seeking equity investment information on the Internet.

Through the alliance, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter will become an active sponsor of Multex Investor (www.multexinvestor.com) and will provide members with immediate access to a selection of the firm's research on a 60-day trial basis. The free research trial will feature nearly 1,300 company profiles, a weekly global telecommunications review called "The Connection" and a technology research overview known as "Tech Week."

Launched in November 1998 by Multex.com, Multex Investor is a branded interactive community that enables individual investors to access brokerage research, financial content and commentary from Wall Street's top analysts, as well as to familiarize themselves with brokerage firms on the Web. It covers over 10,000 individual companies and mutual funds and is the only place on the Internet where individual investors can access over 500,000 financial research reports from the world's top brokerage firms without a membership fee or a brokerage account. In addition, individuals can participate in interactive analyst forums and discussion groups, and have access to original Multex articles. Together, these features have helped Multex Investor to rapidly become one of the most popular Internet destinations for serious investors.

"Our relationship with Multex.com will provide Morgan Stanley Dean Witter with the ability to reach a vast new population of individual investors. By providing them with our outstanding global research, we have the opportunity to introduce investors to the unparalleled services and information available through Morgan Stanley Dean Witter," said James F. Higgins, President and Chief Operating Officer of the Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Private Client Group.

"Offering Morgan Stanley Dean Witter's high-quality research on a trial basis through Multex Investor is an opportunity for both firms, and it's an opportunity for the nearly one million individual investors who are members of our site," said Isaak Karaev, Chairman and CEO of Multex.com. "The market insight offered by an investment powerhouse like Morgan Stanley Dean Witter is exactly what Multex Investor members want and need, and the free trial model has a proven track record of generating highly qualified leads for our sponsors--definitely an essential asset for successful full-service brokerage firms in the next century."

As a Multex Investor sponsor, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter will feature and promote its analysts through regular participation in the Analyst Corner, a co-branded area of the site providing daily market commentary and online forums that feature top financial analysts from a wide range of firms on a rotating basis. In the Analyst Corner, members are able to e-mail questions to analysts, with responses to selected questions posted daily.

60 days free access sounds good to me.
