Bob Howarth: NNC up in Canada, not here: IT IS CLEAR TO ME
something fishy is going on.

Same thing happened 10 days ago during Thanksgiving. Markets closed in US
and open it Canada; NN was up in good volume 2 points. Then Mon it went down again.

The trading bid/ask is very tight.

It is being held at 22.5

All this reeks of manipulation.

But who?

Well perhaps it not a Canadian co since they don't appear to
manipulate the Canadian market.
Or they don't think US folk look at Canadian market and so they let it go. Hard to tell.

But why?

I suspect that there are large Institutional holders that are tired of waiting
in the last 4 years for profit increases. They also realize that consolidation is the name of the game.
So they all got together over golf ( as they usually do <VBG>) and told TM " you got to sell".
If you don't we will keep NN at $15.
At this point I think TM is tired of all this, plus, he too realizes that
consolidation is the name of the game.
So why keep the price down to 22.5?
To put the fire under TMs ' feet and get him to agree to a reasonable deal.
Reasonable is something that that can be concluded by 12/31/99 when
the pooling of interests law runs out and companies can no longer use shares for buy outs.

Just my 2c. ( don't go to the bank with them, vbg)

TA

PS Meanwhile there's a slew of little fishermen fishing
few K shares at a time who will do very well when the deal is announced :-)
