Dan,

My perspective is essentially the same on many levels, different on other levels.

I agree that there is a resurgent interest in stories of this nature. I'm not sure if the reason is because society is confused, or if it is just a longing for greater meaning in our lives(a recurring theme in the book.

I think the reason that it is so popular is also for the reasons you mentioned(in a broader sense) I think reflecting on these types of messages gives people a sense of hope, loving, and meaning in their lives that we all would like to experience to a greater degree.

I think it is normal that you would view those feelings from a Christian perspective, as that is your belief system and it is the culture that you most involved in.

From my perspective it is more a spiritual wanting and meaning, as those are my beliefs, and I see more people from different religious viewpoints all reacting in similar fashion to the themes and views expressed.

So I guess the short answer is that I feel what you are expressing, but from a broader perspective.

Mark

P.S. I don't mean borader as in better or worse, I mean it from the standpoint of specifically Christian vs. a more encompassing spirtual viewpoint......
