Such rumors are common at this time of the quarter for Intel (and more often than not untrue), but they are being fuelled today by negative comments about Gateway (GTW) from Salomon Smith Barney, which cites Intel supply constraints. 11:32 ET Gateway (GTW) 68 7/16 -2 11/16: Stock trading off on negative comments from Salomon Smith Barney, which issued a note this morning arguing that supply constraints on Intel (INTC) processors preclude an upside surprise in Q4, says that Intel has apparently capped GTW's Q4 supply at quantities sufficient for GTW to meet but not exceed EPS consensus.
