As an AC shareholder, I hope that they do get their monopoly, but as a traveller I do not.

Let's not forget that Air Canada can still make a lot of money without raising prices, simply by removing duplication. Milton should cut prices a small amount (say 5%) and then commit AC to raise the prices only in line with their suppliers to buy political good will and avoid obtrusive regulation.
