Digital Microwave Corporation Receives IPI Tax Exemption in Brazil

SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Microwave
Corporation (Nasdaq: DMIC - news) announced today receipt of
PPB certification granting IPI tax exemption in the Campinas,
Brazil factory, the Company's new Latin America center for
manufacturing of digital microwave radios. Under this grant,
the Brazilian Office of the Minister has approved all
frequencies and capacities of the XP4 Series Radio, from
7 GHz to 38 GHz, in capacities of 2x/4xE1, 4x/8xE1, 16xE1
and E3.

With receipt of this tax exemption the Company can move
forward with its plans for production of XP4 radio equipment
in Brazil. By calendar end 2000, it is anticipated that with
growth in market demand for microwave radios at various
frequencies and capacities, the factory production will grow,
and that it will expand into production of other Digital
Microwave Corporation products.

The opening of the factory located on the Rua Fernao Pompeu
de Camargo, 999, marks the implementation of plans announced
previously. It is intended that the factory will produce
radio products that will be deployed in the Mercosur
countries of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.

Digital Microwave Corporation's XP4 product line of radios is
noted worldwide for its cost effectiveness, compact size and
ease of installation. The radios are an economical
alternative to the deployment of wired network connections,
such as fiber optics and copper, as new networks are
established, and they are used extensively for the
interconnection of base stations in cellular networks. In
North America, the XP4 product line is available in
frequencies of 15 to 38 GHz, at capacities of 4xDS-1 to DS-3.
