Motorola unveils new antenna

NORTHBROOK, Ill., Dec 7 (Reuters) - Motorola Inc., the world's No. 2 wireless
telephone maker, introduced Tuesday a new high-performance antenna for wireless voice
and data applications.

The company said the new Oncore Timing2000 Active Global Positioning System (GPS)
antenna offers performance improvements to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and systems integrators.

Unlike flat antennas that are more affected by extreme weather conditions, the new dome shape of the Oncore Timing2000
antenna prevents any collection of snow and ice from blocking antenna signals.

The Oncore Timing2000 maximizes the performance of Motorola's line of Oncore GPS receivers and is also compatible with
other manufacturers' GPS receivers, Motorola said.

The company also said the antenna has minimal power requirements and draws only 26 milliamps at 5 volts.

Product prototypes of the Oncore Timing2000 GPS antenna are immediately available for evaluation, it said, while final
production antennas will be available in early January 2000.
