MILPITAS, Calif., Dec 6, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- XICOR, Inc., today announced four new members
of its real time clock product family, the X1202, X1240, X1241 and X1242.

These products provide Y2K compliant clock/calendar functions in combination with a mixture of
advanced system management building blocks. All products support an industry standard two-wire
interface for direct control and communications from a microcontroller. The real time clock/calendar
function operates down to 1.8 V, making this ideal for portable, battery driven applications such as cell
phones, pagers, handheld instruments and notebook PCs.

The X1202 features a flexible software-polled alarm architecture that allows the designer to preset
time or calendar driven alarms. Alarms can be set with resolutions of 1 second, 1 minute, 1 hour, 1 day,
1 week or 1 month, or can be programmed for specific days of the week.

In addition, the X1202 has a complete set of integrated supervisory functions, including watchdog
timer, programmable low voltage detection circuits, and power-on-reset circuits. The watchdog timer
supports several user-selectable timeout intervals, ranging from 250 milliseconds to 1.75 seconds.
The X1202 also includes a battery switchover function that supports automatic switching from the main
power supply to a battery backup in the event of power failure.

The X1240 integrates 16K of EEPROM memory on-chip with the basic clock/calendar functions, while
the X1241 features both 16K of integrated EEPROM memory and the supervisory functions found on
the X1202.

The X1242 has the same features as the X1202 with the addition of 16K of integrated EEPROM
memory.

"Real time clock functions are standard building blocks required in laptop computers, cellular
telephones, fax machines, utility meters and many other application requiring time and date stamping
of random events," said Wayne Eng, director of marketing for system management products. "When
combined with other advanced supervisory functions, our products offer a highly integrated one chip
solution ideal for embedded system design."
