There might not be significant W-CDMA roll out in Europe for several years, maybe 10!

Well.....Cenegal (a French operator) seems to have contracted with Nortel for a W-CDMA network to be built by Jan 1st 2002. Also One.tel has an agreement with Lucent for W-CDMA networks to be built in England plus 2-3 other Western European countries. The contracts are worth $5billion and $10-20 billion respectively.

Also it seems like the existing operators are going to have to bid on spectrum next year....this will be billions of dollars that will need to be paid. I assume that the operators will be looking for some return on capital.....and not wait 10 years.

JMO....
