AMD probably drew every transistor at - or near - minimium CDs - and hoped it would be fast as a bat out of money-losing-hell. Intel was a lot more careful - fine tuning their transistor lay outs to achieve reasonable speed at reasonable power. And Intel can apparently match AMD's speed at HALF AMD's power budget ! That's why PB's comments about much more head room with the Coppermine Core sounds believable. Paul
