Mantis and all, some news and excellent post on Yahoo TLM thread (7th). This accusation that TLM is Genocidal is indeed disturbing, however, we must realize that it is all based on hearsay and twisted information coming from the propaganda capital of the world. I will be glad when the Canadian investigation is complete so we can get to the bottom of this once and for all. What seems suspicious is all of this protesting really doesn't have any hard evidence, very difficult for me to figure out how this could be going on for so long yet the quality of journalism is so poor that it cannot produce a single picture or film footage. I guess they figure if they make enough noise people will start to believe it.
On the other hand, it is CEO Mr Buckee who has the evidence in the form pictures and for those who listened in to the conference call know he is prepared to make a very scientific demonstration through the use of hi-tech seismic data to prove that there has been no villages in the area for the last 20 years. Mr Buckee also pointed out that during the rainy season (6 months) most of the area around the oil fields are under 1-2 meters of water.
Of course most people in the market know that the main controlling operator in Sudan is China National, not Talisman as these protesters preach. This is real smooth, lets get rid of Talisman and western influences, China National will continue and they are much better suited for human rights issues, ya right. Another example of information being twisted is this accusation that Talisman is supplying oil for military fuel when in fact the government owns 50% of all oil produced and does not need oil from Talisman. I can go on but I think this area of discussion is best left to Mr Harker.
Certainly none of this is to deny the gross human suffering and desperate need for quality leadership in Sudan. Out of time, eom Ed
