Bruce: There has been a relative silence on Sun Micro on this thread. That is "traditional".

Seems like a strong king (really more like a basket of kings in itself) but never been considered such, perhaps because of emotional ties here to MFST the granddaddy of all gorillas.

And therefore SUNW is sort of the "enemy".

And this is despite the point that the two companies are in entirely separate business segments (handware vs software) with the exception of the fight over Java and a few similar side issues.

Probably completely wrong, but that is my guess.
