IBM and NEON Continue Strong IBM
MQSeries Integrator Growth;
Third-Quarter Sales Increase More Than
Four-Fold

DENVER, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Sales of IBM MQSeries Integrator (MQSI), the Web and
enterprise software integration solution jointly marketed by New Era of Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:
NEON - news) and IBM (NYSE: IBM - news), continued to show dramatic growth in the third
quarter. Combined sales of MQSeries Integrator products, including MQ Integrator and
Commerce Integrator, grew four-fold year-over-year and more than 40 percent on a
sequential-quarter basis.

``Our combined sales of MQSI are increasing at more than double the current rate of market
growth for integration products,' said NEON CEO Rick Adam. ``In addition, we estimate sales
of MQSI in the third quarter were double those of any competing product. These results
demonstrate the strength of MQSI and continued leadership in the marketplace.'

More than 100 customers have chosen MQSI over competitive products or custom solutions in
the last 12 months. The MQSI customer base spans widely diversified industries including
telecommunications, finance, health care, manufacturing, travel and transportation and retail.
Recent customer wins include AT&T, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited
(ANZ), Bank Julius Baer, Bank One Corporation, Barclays, Bayer, British Telecom,
Countrywide, Deluxe Corporation, Deutsche Telekom AG, Dresdner Bank AG, Fuji Bank, JATO
Communications Corporation, Marks & Spencer Financial Services, NatWest Group, Samsung
Corporation, Siemens, Swiss Re Life & Health Ltd., and Xerox Europe Ltd.

``We are pleased our partnership with IBM continues to flourish, as evidenced by the growth of
our business during the third quarter of 1999,' continued Adam. ``Product sales have increased
steadily since MQSeries Integrator was brought to market in May 1998. We estimate combined
NEON/IBM sales from inception through September 1999 to be well over $40 million. Revenue
generated by IBM sales of MQSeries Integrator grew significantly in the third quarter, consistent
with our expectations for growth of the product.'

Recognizing the substantial and strategic market opportunity for MQSI on the AS/400 and
OS/390 platforms, IBM requested that the partnership develop MQSI products for those systems.
NEON and IBM together responded quickly to this opportunity - the AS/400 product is available
now, and the OS/390 product will be available in the first quarter of 2000. The AS/400
platform, used by 95 percent of Fortune 100 companies and tens of thousands of smaller ones, is
popular with IBM customers because of its reliable storage facilities, systems management and
Java-based Internet capabilities. MQSeries Integrator for OS/390 meets the demands of the
ever-increasing Web traffic for transactions processed on customers' mainframe computers.

IBM and NEON continue to add new marketing partners for MQSI, including CrossWorlds and
Extricity, further solidifying NEON's patented rules and formatter technology as the industry
standard for e-Business and enterprise integration.

NEON will announce fourth quarter results, which will include royalty revenue from IBM's third
quarter MQSI sales, on January 26, 2000.
