Seattle, Dec. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Internet companies including PlanetRx.com. Inc. and Drugstore.com Inc. have been dropped by or switched advertising agencies because of the quickly changing demands of electronic commerce, the Wall Street Journal reported. While the World Wide Web has been a windfall for the ad industry, which has a long tradition of client-relationship building, agencies are walking away from the fickle Internet accounts and demanding up-front payments, fearing that the start-ups will back out of commitments. While a Drugstore.com spokeswoman said, ``Our culture is that we'll try this today and something new tomorrow,' the company is working with its third ad agency since the summer, Fallon McElligott, the paper said.

Online sales of drugs, vitamins and personal-care products will soar to about $6.3 billion in five years from $213 million last year, according to Forrester Research Inc., which tracks e- commerce.
