John,

If this message gets duplicated, please forgive it. It appears that Silicon Investor is dealing with a few "issues" today. In any case, they gobbled up my first response.

Now, to try to answer your question....

I have trouble figuring out my childrens' motives for some of the things they do, so I have found speculation about the motives of major corporations to be an unprofitable line of endeavor ... let alone a sound basis for investment decisions. The question you raise is very interesting, but I despair of ever getting a real answer to it. Those who made the decision are unlikely to share their reasoning, and everyone else is just guessing.

I wish I could give you a more definitive response.

Fred
