Sympatico question...

In my area, in Canada, Bell Telephone offers a high-speed internet connection over your existing phone line called Sympatico. You get a modem which talks to your NIC. It costa about U$10 a month.

Does anyone know what this service is? Is it xDSL? All I get at the phone centres is a demonstration and some bafflegab from a sales person who obviously knows less than I do. (Damn little)
