on the QCOM story I told a quick story last week, worth repeating smart former manager of mine for a decade at Digital Equip Corp he works at Boston-based marketing research outfit, no slouch he said, "but Jim, there are many wireless standards out there... what makes you so sure that QCOM's CDMA will prevail?" I said, "it has the only working broadband voice/data standard" he said, "oooooooohhhh" so many standards out there... and each carrier is trying to squeeze the last drop of profit and usefulness out of their sizeable investment... Europe is dragging its feet in converting to CDMA... what is the rush? .. the movement will be dictated by the demand for heavy data over wireless... the websites are not yet up to speed in this regard... the Wireless ISP's are not yet set up for heavy duty operation... WISP rate plans arent even known yet... current demand for wireless file transmission is not exactly crying out now, but it will the 3G market in wireless is ours but the dinner will be served when it is demanded all the pieces are slowly falling into place each main course of the meal gradually is being set down time will bring about the requisite demand the market will cry out, my guess is later next year / Jim
