Remember that warranties are only given for the time period the company is most confident minimal failures will occur. Handling warranty claims is very expensive for the retailer and manufacturesrs so length & strength of warranty is usually a reliable indicator of quality IMO.

Although I agree with you that that product brand name is important don't minimize the strength of the retailer name either. I think most of us realize that a name retailer has to evaluate the company and product before giving the ok to sell it in their store. Not only are they concernced with the product but also with the strength of the company so in case of problems they have a company to return bad or excess product to! I hope the initial sales of the JTS drives have been good and not resulted in many returns and if product ineeded to be returned that it is handled quickly and fairly to keep the confidence of the stores and box builders This is an area that Atari failed miserably in.
