*Would Vari-L be a take-over target by other companies such as Nokia?*

I don't think so.

However, NOK's auditors were in VARL's office not too long ago assessing production capabilities. Some said that the reason for them being there was for buy-out due diligence, I believe it was more for relationship reasons . . . perhaps we will see some 3G handset orders from NOK . . . after all, 3G is where VARL will excel in the handset business - similarly broadband wireless and optoelectrics, all these areas need very high quality and reliable components. VARL's two main competitors (technologically) are in Japan and are not keeping up on the technology front. As Messrs. Sherman and Clark have often said - it is a pleasure competing with the Japanese. Another thought on that front . . . The yen continues to strengthen against the Dollar . . . that allows VARL to further compete via maintaining their pricing while the Japanese have to lower theirs to keep orders flowing, thus contracting the Japanese companies margins and lowering funds for further R&D. Capitalism can be so nasty.
