I just wanted to make an observation that WWeb does not mean you have to be mobile and on the go all the time. You have the option of using the WWeb for weeks, months, or years without it leaving your home or office. But you have the option of taking it mobile. But, on the other hand, wire does restrict you to a fixed based network. What kind of provider would you choose today if you had the option considering the price and performance are considerably competitive? 14k, 56k, cable, DSL, CSCO's Fixed Wireless, or HDR? Which one is more flexible ?
I believe that when Dr. Irwin talks about SPEED he wants to make it easier for the consumers to come up with the right decision and choose wireless :0).
The best analogy I can think of is the cellular phone itself. Why are we carrying them today if we have good phones around us at home, office, or public places?
Please remember that DATA is not always boring stuff that we all think about usually. Think about all the portable stuff we carry with us these days: PC's, game players, radios, cds, TV's, DVD's and now MP3. There will be NO need for most of these devices when HDR comes around. I would even include wallets in that category in a few years from now. I think there will be lots of consolidation in the electronic market place. In 5 years from now you will go to a circuit city store and buy one and only one device: a CDMABLER.
Qcom, toll gate to the wireless world
(I hope my writing is clear, sorry if it isn't. I get really excited when I think about all the opportunities with the upcoming stuff) |
