Hello Quad-K,

This is a very interesting article ... and I like the fact that a Novell employee posted his opinion about the comments also!

I will say that Mr. Franklin has some interesting things to say ... not that I agree completely. But it is funny, that as I was working on the original architecture, etc. for digitalme, it became very apparent to me that the most important aspects of the directory are the "schema" and how they are designed. I believe this is one of the points that Mr. Franklin makes ... and one that many people at Novell didn't seem to understand.

If Novell understood the importance of schema, I believe that they would have given Schemax away for free to their customers, and the developer community ... because it *is* the format of the data in the directory that is most important. And, IMHO, the de facto standards for schema, and the applications which use that schema, are going to be what drives the adoption of directories across the industry, business, and the Internet.

And now we are already seeing the parallels between the schema for LDAP and directories ... and the "schema" of XML ...

This is going to be very important ...

(Wow ... a little profit taking in the market today!)
