Robert and the Thread:
FWIW, I find LightPath an intriguing company with a Great Future.
Here is how my thinking goes:
Mr. Robert Ripp most recently the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AMP Incorporated of Harrisburg, PA., joins LightPath Technologies as Chairman of it's Board of Directors.
Under Mr. Ripp's direction, AMP, a leading manufacturer of electrical, electronic, fiber-optic and wireless interconnection devices and systems, successfully increased sales to over $5 billion. Then earlier this year, he successfully negotiates AMP's sale to TYCO, International Ltd. in a deal valued at $13 billion. During his five-year tenure at AMP, Mr. Ripp also served as Executive Vice President Sales & Marketing and Vice President & Chief Financial Officer.
Before his stint at AMP, Mr. Ripp worked, for 29 years, at International Business Machines. He held positions in all aspects of operations within IBM during his career, culminating in the last four years as Vice President & Treasurer.
Here is this very capable fellow, with, to die for experience(s) in running a couple of multi-billion dollar companies, without a job! A dream prospect for the nation's top headhunters, who are shamelessly falling over each other trying to woo him with the most plum assignments in Corporate America.
And what does he do?
In, His Infinite Wisdom, Mr. Robert Ripp decides to grab the opportunity to run, a so-called "promising" company called LightPath Technologies, based in the "technology megalopolis" of Albuquerque, New Mexico! A company, which in it's latest quarter, reported total revenues of a whopping $269,105, and, with an operating loss of only $589,411 compared to $781,686 for the same quarter of the prior year!
So I wonder...
Is he really in possession of all his "marbles?"
What sane man with experience in running two multi-billion dollar corporations, would want to run a, money losing, rinky-dink operation in Albuquerque, New Mexico?
I believe the answer to the above question is Mr. Robert Ripp, who saw enough value in this company's 18 U.S. patents, plus 8 more pending. Not to mention the company's 7 International patents with another 10 patents pending.
Incidently, these patents just happen to be in the white hot telecommunication sector of Fibre Optics!
I am willing to invest a substantial amount in a company run by Mr. Robert Ripp. A man with pretty impressive business credentials. A man, smart enough to recognize a Great business potential in a small company in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Good Luck to All!
