CIC China Adds HiSense to Its Growing List of PenTools Licensees
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 6, 1999--(Nasdaq: CICI) Communication Intelligence Corporation ("CIC"), the leading supplier of pen-based software solutions, today announced that its 90% owned joint venture Communication Intelligence Computer Corporation, Ltd ("CICC") has licensed its PenTools(TM) product to HiSense Software Co. for integration into its office automation system offerings. PenTools(TM) enables pen-based computing for enterprise use in office automation (OA) and management information systems (MIS). CICC, is a Joint Venture between CIC and the Ministry of Electronic Industries of the Jiangsu Province of the People's Republic of China. Chenyu Ma, Manager of the International Cooperation Department of HiSense Software Co., stated, "We believe that by integrating CICC's PenTools into our high-end OA systems, we can offer a more competitive solution to our corporate customers. With the addition of handwriting recognition, handwritten markup of documents, signature verification and handwritten email components from PenTools, our OA system will be more suitable for government officers, enterprise managers, bankers, and other Chinese corporate users. This added functionality will provide us with a competitive advantage in OA system integration opportunities." The HiSense group is one of the top IT companies in China. The HiSense Software Co. is its software subsidiary and is one of the largest system integrators for OA, MIS and other management systems in China. PenTools, priced at $20,000 US each, consists of a number of standard OA system components called OCX controls. These controls can be integrated into the two most popular OA system platforms, Lotus Notes and Microsoft Exchange. Once enabled, these components add functionality to the OA system for handwritten markup of documents, handwriting recognition, electronic signatures, and natural messaging (handwritten mail). The PenTools product has been popular among OA system integrators, government OA system users, enterprise-wide OA systems, and many other OA and MIS system users. HiSense joins a growing list of PenTools licensees which include: Great Wall Group, Pansky International Group, Powerwise Group, QianDao City government, DaLian Branch of People's Bank of China, Wuxi Local Tax Bureau.
