Satyam comes up with Discover
Private internet service provider, Satyam Infoway is offering a new range of services under the name Discover.
Satyam Online is not in a position to cut its rates to match the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd and Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd, which recently slashed their tariffs by 15 per cent.
Instead Satyam Online is using Discover to offer additional software features and flexible time packages.
These additional and enhanced features will come bundled with the free software packages, which Satyam Online offers to all its new internet subscribers. It has also introduced 'Flexi-Net, under which a feature log-ins between 10 pm to 8 am are charged at 50 per cent of the normal rate.
This enhanced feature will include auto-configuring of e-mail accounts on Outlook Express thereby doing away with the tedious process of configuring one's e-mail account.
The "flexi-hour" packages for new subscribers range from 30 hours (Rs 690 for three months_ to 90 hours, 180 hours, 360 hours and 600 hours.
Satyam has also introduced three new features with its free software package, which comes with every subscription. These features include, Indomail, a facility to send e-mail in 14 Indian languages, Dr Millennium, which is a software tool for Y2K compliance and Market Pulse (trial version), which will provide real-time quotes from the BSE and NSE and other business news throughout the day.
