What is even more depressing is the fact that these types of things still go on no matter how much people may be into denial. I heard that many people who were arrested at the WTO debacle were not allowed to make phone calls for an extended period of time, and not all of those folks were rioters...
Back to Y2K, it appears to me at this time that oil production will suffer after the New Year, primarily from "Third World" oil producing countries not being prepared properly because of the "imbedded chip" problems and the like, so things may get interesting for awhile as we may be forced to use our "strategic reserves" in place of the missing oil.
