Delphi Automotive Systems Wins Wiring Contract with Volvo Truck

WARREN, Ohio, Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Delphi Automotive Systems (NYSE: DPH - news) announced today it has won a new business contract to manufacture wiring harnesses for Volvo Truck North America's Class 8 commercial trucks, beginning with its current model production.

Delphi's Packard Electric Systems division will supply main cab and engine wiring assemblies to Volvo Truck's Dublin, Va., assembly plant, where it produces its U.S.-version Class 8 heavy-duty, or VN model, trucks. Volvo Truck North America, based in Greensboro, N.C., accounted for approximately 11.5 percent share of the North American commercial truck market in 1998.

Delphi has significantly expanded commercial truck wiring sales over the last three years, and today is the North American market share leader at greater than 50 percent.

''This wiring contract with Volvo Truck marks a significant step in Delphi's commercial truck growth strategy,'' said Nick Cassudakis, manager, sales and engineering, Delphi Packard Electric. ''Volvo Truck is a significant global player in the commercial truck market and has tremendous growth potential.
