Al-

I agree VKNG is interesting. It is not, I believe, primarily a mail order company. They are a high-service provider primarily to small businesses- much of it outside the U.S. Their prices are a bit (ca. 10%) higher than a contract with SPLS might be, but they can command that because of their service.

One of the analysts in Louis Rukeyser's newsletter put them on his recommended list when they were at 30. I sold my SPLS the day the FTC weighed in against the merger, regarding it as another instance in which my government stole from me (even granting that anti-trust is a legitimate function of government- which I don't, by the way- it's absurd to think of SPLS gaining a monopoly over office products.) But hey, those FTC boys have to justify their existence, so they create a "new industry", office superstores, which did not exist until SPLS invented it 10 or so years ago.

I bought into VKNG 13 7/8 the day after its $6 drop and, like you, expect it to be at 20 unless the entire market heads far south. I'm inclined to give it more time to recover, however- say 12 months.
