Yes, I, too, had never considered that maybe Suzanne witnessed something that perhaps someone didn't want repeated. Good thought. Another possible theory is that the people who killed her were out looking for a victim: a Yalie. Sadly, these sorts of things do happen.

And finally, there's the theory that she was silenced because of something she had written in her thesis on the terrorist Osama bin Laden. I did skim over her thesis and check the footnotes and all her sources were from published materials, and Jim confirmed that she didn't ever mention some secret personal contact, so, again, while such a scenario is possible I think it far from likely.
