It will be worthwhile to see how the handhelds market unfolds.

Dinesh,
Thanks for the lesson on X-Windows.

Speaking of handhelds, I always thought that this was going to be the killer app for Citrix. Apparently it's a pretty big chunk of why businesses have elected to deploy MetaFrame....well I'm getting off track a little. Not so much the handheld market per sey, but the ability to dial in over a low bandwidth connection to access apps on a central server. I believe Honeywell has a large deployment in Europe for exactly this reason.

But speaking specifically of the handheld market, CTXS published some figures that someone posted not to far upstream. The number of vendors who make the handheld devices that have elected to put the MetaFrame client on their hardware was substantial. But I don't recall the figure.

For those that don't understand, it's possible using MetaFrame to get full blown Windows apps sent down a narrowband pipe to display on handhelds. How you can view the app on the tiny screen is another matter. But it still beats having to deal with writing all new software for enterprise apps to be displayed on mobile handhelds.

As far where Citrix is in it's lifecycle? Well that's the $64,000 question. Way to complicated for me to speculate. I really don't know. But as they consistently come through on the top and bottom lines, it does make one wonder if CTXS is indeed one of those Gorilla candidates.
