Goutama,

< AMD EPS Contest - Q4 - 99 Dec 08, 1999 - 1:00AM >

Now that the word is trickling out that the cost cuts on the 12th aren't going to be substantial, i did some number crunching to see how the quarter can be.

Here is the numbers for both low-end and high-end expectations:

Low-end:

Athlons 1.0@275; k6s 4.3@60; Chipsets 0.5@30; Memory 250; Networking 80; Other 20; total ~900M
Assume 850 breakeven; -15 for interest; +5 for JV and 50%GM over breakeven
EPS: ~0.10

High-end:

Athlons 1.3@275; k6s@65; Chipsets 0.7@35; Memory 260; Networking 85; Other 20; Total ~1050
Assume 825 for breakeven; -15 for Interest; +5 for JV; 60% GM over breakeven
EPS: ~0.68

So, in summary, it is pretty much impossible to comeup with any meaningful EPS other than to say that the lowball numberis 0.10

At this stage given the massive leverage of Athlon it is impossible to get close to actual numbers without significant management guidance. I would not be surprised to see something like that happen in the next week or two.

Chuck

P.S.: I will also post something about what I think the next few quarters could be and what the stock price target is slightly later in the day.
