Yes, I agree that Cowpland should not hype everything Corel does and then end up disappointing the market. He should learn a lesson from Microsoft who seem to always surprise the market with excellent results and minimal hype. A companies creditability and that of its CEO is something that should be safe guarded at all costs. However, to suggest that Cowpland would forfeit Corel, which is his soap box, just to say I took on Microsoft is a bit long.

Don't forget, when Corel had just Corel Draw and good earnings, analysts where down on Corel for being a one product company. Well you do not hear this complaint from them anymore. Corel needs Cowpland just as bad as Cowpland needs Corel. To suggest that Cowpland resign would kill the stock because Corel would be perceived by the market as being in trouble. Corel last year generated a record $47.5 million in cash flow (before changes in non cash working capital). Cash flow will increase this year even with modest earnings(or any earnings at all).

I invested in Corel with the full knowledge that they are in a battle with the world's largest best capitalized software company. I did not expect Corel to beat Microsoft dead or even have a small impact on them. However, with good products and proper cost controls Corel can establish a good niche market for their office suite and continue to dominate in the graphics software market. This alone has the potential to increase Corel's share price to the mid teen's or heaven forbid low twenties. I think $100 is a pipe dream and those people who jumped onto the Corel band wajon with this target deserve to be disappointed.

Corel's annual meeting was today. Does anyone know what was said by Cowpland during the meeting?
