Toured the fed's Y2K Information Coordination Center here in DC. Very impressive operation, though not surprisingly, it wasn't nearly as flashy as the one portrayed in the NBC flick. 'Spect we will be seeing a lot of the media briefing room in a few weeks. By the way, it's being painted in "North Carolina blue," as a dig at Duke alumni Koskinen. I think it's more to pacify the media hacks. ggg. Beats pastel green, although the place did smell like a dentist office.

The facility is the former operations center for the Secret Service, so the build out didn't require a whole lot of imagination. And of course, they have battery and generator back-up. At the end of the session, I jokingly asked the "tour guide" if they would have a direct link to Dick Clark, meaning Times Square, NY. He responded that Mr. Clark of the NSA would play an integral role in analyzing and evaluating international developments. So much for humor!
