Arthur Andersen becomes the first Big 5 member of the
Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) Forum
Arthur Andersen can now provide greater value to its wireless
clients as an associate member of the Wireless Application Protocol
(WAP) Forum. The firm recently joined this group of industry leaders
who collectively support the protocol that empowers individuals with
wireless devices to easily access and interact with information and
services over existing wireless networks.
The creation of the WAP Forum in 1997 was a landmark event for
the wireless industry. This forum was launched by Ericsson, Motorola,
Nokia and Phone.com (formerly Unwired Planet) to develop worldwide
standards for wireless Internet access.
