I'd sure be changing the name before jumping in with both delete feet.

There's a method to looking for files. If the filename name doesn't include the drive and directory the current default directory is searched, then the search works through a pre-set path until a matching filename is found. If the path-end is reached and no file found, an error message is generated: It's often cryptic and misleading -- "Your steering wheel has too much salt!", for example.

Anyway, DOS has a PATH value you can check. How windows does it? I dunno! A guess would be the search path is recorded in the registry when the software is installed, but I must repeat, this is just a guess.

If you're adventuresome, search your directory for "PATH" and you'll see where various programs look to find various files. You may also search to see what's calling your 'old' file and what's calling the 'new' one.

Cheers, PW.
