S&P 500 2001 earnings estimates have been raised 5% in the last two months. Q4/1999 estimates, however, have been lowered 3%. Over the last three days concensus ratings for both the SPX and NDX have been trending slightly less favorable.

The 2-year forward P/E of the S&P 500 is 21.5 (at the extreme upper range of historical values).
