Madge.web Packages E-Business for Braitrim

WEXHAM SPRINGS, United Kingdom--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 8, 1999-- Madge.web(TM), part of
Madge Networks N.V. (NASDAQ NM:MADGF), a global network solutions provider, has been
awarded a three-year contract to fully manage the international e-business infrastructure
for the UK's largest packaging services supplier to high-street stores, Braitrim.
Braitrim provides complete design and project management solutions for retail
packaging world-wide.
Madge.web's complete solution includes hosting the trading extranet, managing all
on-line security and providing a virtual network service to deliver a robust, end-to-end,
on-line supply chain management solution for Braitrim's several thousand global customers
and suppliers.
Braitrim's e-business strategy is designed to create a competitive advantage by
providing superior customer service around the world. The key component of this strategy
is that Braitrim can offer its customers faster and predictable product supply through
improved administration and supply chain management. In turn, this enables retailers to
get new product to market far quicker.
Braitrim's Jack Paddison commented: "We are very keen to make the most of Internet
technology to improve our business. That means we need far more than a `shop-front'
website. We need to make sure that our e-business strategy enhances our tradition of
first-class global customer service, and is fully utilised in terms of improving our
turnaround time. That ethic goes right through to making sure that our interactive
customer site is fast and easy-to-use, always available and secure. It's for those
reasons that we selected Madge.web as our partner for this project".
The on-line system hosted by Madge.web allows Braitrim's customers and clients --
which include all the major high street stores -- to order their packaging, labels,
hangers and carrier bags at any time of the day, as well as the ability to track the
status of their orders at any hour. This applies to customers and suppliers who are
supported by Braitrim's International offices in France, Germany, Hong Kong, India,
Morocco, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Sweden and Turkey. The on-line e-business system will
allow relevant Braitrim data to be accessed at any time, overcoming time-zone and
language difficulties, improving co-ordination and speeding the supply chain.
Braitrim's on-line store is already popular and gaining momentum. With a growing
number of customers and suppliers being implemented, it is anticipated that there will be
a 10 fold increase by 2001. Madge.web is providing a fully scalable service, which will
easily meet all future demand.
To ensure that the on-line ordering offers the same, strict client confidentiality as
the traditional phone or catalogue procurement, Madge.web has secured all data traffic
with advanced security.
Madge.web will monitor the security and the performance of the e-business
infrastructure 24 hours a day, every day of the year. This round-the-clock proactive
management helps to ensure continuous availability of Braitrim's e-business.
Martin Malina, vice president of global marketing, Madge.web says: "Braitrim's strong
e-business strategy demonstrates how Internet technology is changing the way businesses
operate. It is a fine example of the speed at which the New Economy is becoming such a
reality, and further evidence that Madge.web is a serious player in helping companies
make the most of this economic era."

About Braitrim

Braitrim provides complete design and project management solutions for retail
packaging world-wide and has major European retail groups amongst its clients. It has
prided itself on business innovation for over two decades.
Braitrim recognised well before the rest of the industry that, in order to compete

pioneering spirit is but one example of initiatives which have enabled Braitrim to grow
to an international company with an annual turnover in excess of $120M.
In support of retail store groups in the UK, Germany and France, Braitrim has
established a network of 11 customer service and supply centres throughout the world, in
countries where garments are manufactured.
