I don't know, brass sounds better than plastic. Plastic will keep breaking, and brass will last. Of course, you should have been offered the choice, but it doesn't sound so bad if the brass thingie cost $150. Although it does sound like they buy their parts at the same place the Department of Defense buys its $400 toilet seats.;^)
