Platelets, eh? It's a start. I assume that when American Xtal says they're "working to develop other high-performance compound substrates, such as Gallium Nitride (GaN)," they mean using their VGF technique or some modification of it. axt.com None of the other compound semiconductor substrates they sell are nitrides. This looks like a real challenge; it could even become a quest. OTOH, for the successful company, there will be a higher barrier to competition than in other substrate markets. WT
