Who would put beta software into production, and why? 1. Competitive corporations that want to aggressively stay on the forefront of technology. 2. Companies that want to ensure that the features and specs they need to stay competitive in their own business are supported to their satisfaction in the new OS. 3. Large corporations with a relationship with MSFT that know that MSFT the difference between MSFT beta software and MSFT released software are features/changes recommended by the Beta users themselves; ie, people who know that MSFT BETAs are much more stable than your average JoeSchmoe software. In short, people who have faith in MSFT products, and whose faith has been established over several years of mutually beneficial relationship, and whose faith continues to be reinforced by the solidity of products like Windows 2000. MSFT is a business - they, like everyone else, strive hard to maintain good customer relationships as a matter of good business.
